I thought that since we’re almost halfway through the year it would be a good time to look back on my 2017 Resolutions and give myself, and you, a little update! As I spent ages trying to make some really achievable and positive goals for myself, I’m excited to go back and see how far I’ve come (if at all) and hopefully motivate myself with working towards the rest!
Try new makeup
My first resolution was to try out some new makeup styles in 2017. I think I’ve done well with this one so far! My main goal with this was to wear more eye makeup/eyeshadow and try out some new products, which I’ve definitely done! I’m really happy with this one, but I still have loads of makeup envy. Currently, I’m loving really perfect, flawless face makeup and I’ve tried to perfect my skin care routine. I think for the next few months I’ll try to focus more on bronzers and highlighters and maybe even perfect my contour… (a girl can dream)!
Get back to university
It’s a little too soon to comment on this as I don’t start back at university until September, but I am still determined to get there! I’ve spent the past few weeks getting in touch with my lecturers, dissertation supervisor and picking my classes so I’ve definitely made a lot of progress which is really exciting! I’m planning on spending the next few months making sure I’m fully ready to go back as well. I’ve started on my dissertation proposal and research, and I’m hoping to get a complete plan written up by summer. I’m also going to make sure I’m ready for my classes when I go back. I’ll find the excitement in it again, I’m sure of it!
Make time for hobbies
When I wrote my resolutions post, I used this one to try to sew and knit more. I have made time for hobbies, but my sewing machine is still lonely in its box. Instead, I’ve been colouring in A LOT over the past few weeks and reading more. I’ve still to complete a book, but I’ve made progress so I can’t complain. I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish the book I’m reading, usually, I can fly through books in an hour or two, but despite me loving the storyline for this one it just seems to take me so long to get through it. Has anyone else ever had that problem? Maybe my 2027 resolution will be to fully finish that book – watch this space!
Travel to new places
My final resolution was to try to travel more across the UK and see lots of amazing things. Honestly though, with the weather, work and my boyfriend starting up his own business we’ve barely had any free time. We did manage to stay a night in Edinburgh in an Air BnB recently which was amazing, but other than that, we haven’t been to many other places. Hopefully, over the warmer months and towards Autumn we’ll get more of an opportunity to go to more exciting places! I haven’t managed to get any concerts sorted yet, but I haven’t really found any that I’m desperate to go to! Honestly, if we can visit Edinburgh again and try 3 new restaurants this year then I’ll count this one as complete!
So I’d say I’m maybe 50% there, I’m making good progress with a few of my resolutions but I’ve still got a long way to go! I have to say though, 2017 has been the most exciting year for me (so far) and I can’t wait to see what the rest of it will bring!
How have you been getting on with your goals for 2017?
