The Blogger Tag

the blogger tag

I was tagged by the wonderful Cassie over at ZombieGoddess Beauty for ‘The Blogger Tag’! Thanks so much for nominating me Cassie, I’m excited to answers these questions because they look great!

You can check Cassie’s post and answers out here.

1. How long have you’ve been blogging and why did you start?

Not long at all! I created this blog in December 2016 but left it for ages, too scared to get started. I eventually published my first ever post on February 17th, 2017 so I’ve not been blogging for 3 months yet, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!

This blog started as an outlet for my mental health and university experiences, really. I’ve always loved writing out my thoughts but felt like I wanted to do it in a way I could help others. When I was really struggling with my mental health and uni, I would search and search for posts/stories about other people’s experiences but could barely find anything I could relate to. I created this blog in the hope that this could be the missing piece that I had looked for and so maybe someone in a similar position would have my blog to help them. This blog is mainly my outlet for all my thoughts and the things I enjoy but I’d love for it to be able to help someone and that’s why I started in the first place.

2. Is this current blog your first blog?

Actually no. I created a blog about two years ago that I only used for a month. It was totally anonymous and I started it during my lowest point. I used it to share my panic attack stories but I lacked the confidence to actually put myself out there, show my face and properly share my story. That blog is still live and floating around somewhere but I’m glad I made this blog because it feels more personal and relatable, for me anyway.

3. What would you categorise your blog as?

Based on my more recent posts I would say it’s mental health & more of a personal blog. Overall though, I think I have a good mix of lifestyle and beauty posts too, with lots more to come so I’d say it’s a happy mixture!

4. Is it still the same kind of blog as when you started?

I definitely think it’s the same. My aim was to make sure I didn’t limit myself and to use my blog to talk about whatever I felt like that day and that’s exactly what I’ve done!

5.Top 3 things about being a blogger!

There are so many! My absolute favourite part though is the entire blogging community. I’ve struggled a lot with feeling so lonely in the past and since launching my blog, I haven’t felt lonely since. There’s a real sense of community in the blogging world and I love that everyone is so kind, supportive and goes out their way to look out for others!

I also love that it gives me the opportunity to just write. One of my main passions in life is writing, whether it’s little stories and poems or an account of my day, I’ve always been a writer. I love that being a blogger allows me to fit that into with my other passions of raising awareness of mental health and being able to advise and help others.

Lastly, I love the positivity in the blogging world. This is kind of linked to the community aspect as well, but more so that being a blogger has given me a real sense of purpose and positivity that I never had before. It really has opened up my life and helped build my self-confidence and happiness and I love being a blogger for that.

6. What is your favourite kind of post to write?

I love writing personal posts. That’s the reason I started this blog after all and although they’re definitely the scariest to write I find them the most therapeutic and honest. I’m a total open book in all parts of my life – I’m awful at lies and secrets and I’m usually way too honest, so my favourite thing is being able to express that on my blog too.

7. What is the hardest post you have ever written and published?

In terms of it being hard as in terrifying to share, all of my university series has been tough to publish. I’d say that the first ever post in it though, about my panic attacks, was the hardest because it was the first I’d spoken about the issue. I felt very vulnerable pressing the publish button that first time, but it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.

8. Tag 3 (or more) lovely bloggers!

This is hard because I know SO MANY lovely bloggers but I will try to limit myself to as close to 3 as I can get. So, I tag Natasha, Lola, Tiffany, CaitlinRachael, Charlene and Natalie.

There, that’s about 3… right??!

Love reading tag posts, they’re a great way to get to know the person behind the blog! And I’m the same, I do love reading and writing personal posts. I feel like (for me anyway) there’s more effort put into them as you’re talking about something close to your heart.

Hey I really liked reading this and learning a bit about you ! I actually can totally relate to that second point. Anon blogging feels like writing in a diary, and sometimes it’s super nice to have it all out there. I feel for you. Actually, I might do that again!
