As I’m sure you’ll all know by now, I’m a total Disney fanatic. I watch at least one Disney movie a day and I know every song off by heart.
I’ve wanted to do a Disney related post for a while, and I figured since it’s Friday and we’re all happily heading into the weekend, why not do a light-hearted (BUT SERIOUS) rating of every Disney princess ever created and find out once and for all who the best of the bunch really are.
13. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Aurora aka THE WORST PRINCESS. She’s so boring, like how can a princess who sleeps 24/7 be fun. She hardly speaks in the movie and when she does she’s just being so whiny and moody. I prefer her when she’s sleeping instead of complaining and then it’s just boring again.
The only thing I like about her is that she sleeps so much, but even then I’m just jealous of that because it’s not me. 10/10 most boring princess to ever exist.
12. Snow White
One of the most stupid princesses. If a creepy old woman offers you an apple WHY WOULD YOU SAY YES. Didn’t you get taught stranger danger/don’t take sweets from strangers?
Before that drama though, she’s just boring boring boring anyway. Why run into the woods then freak out? If you’re so in love with nature and sing with the freakin animals then why are you scared of trees!?
STAND UP FOR YOURSELF GIRL. Cinderella would maybe make it higher in this list if she just told her horrible step mum and sisters where to go. What an awful role model, having kindness is great and all but being a little doormat is not.
Those glass slippers though.
10. Merida (Brave)
Merida is great because she’s playing for her own hand and doesn’t need no man! Love it. Loving that fiery hair and personality as well, Merida is the type of independent woman we should all aspire to be … IF SHE DIDNT TURN HER MUM INTO A BEAR. She’s apparently so mature and can handle her problems and knows what she wants in her future but can’t even have a grown up conversation with her mum without running off to find a witch and ruin her mum’s day. How selfish.
9. Jasmine (Aladdin)
Jasmine is one of the cooler princesses because she has the cutest outfit EVER and a tiger, pretty cool. She’s also good at sticking up for herself which gives her points but she’s just so rude and sassy for no reason. We KNOW that you don’t wanna marry whoever your dad tells you to, that’s cool, we wouldn’t either, but you don’t have to sass your way through the movie. I love sass as much as the next person, but there’s such a thing as too much.
Cool it, Jas.
8. Anna (Frozen)
Anna’s just pretty plain. The real star of this movie, as we all know, is Elsa but as she’s a queen she can’t take part in this list. Anna is super sweet but how naïve can you be!? Obviously, the handsome, charming prince that wants to marry you after 3 seconds is a BAD GUY everyone else can see it.
Anna gets points for being a caring sister and wanting to make sure Elsa is doing okay, but she does get a bit annoying. As an older sister myself, I totally get the needing alone time so Anna needs to back off a little and leave her sister be.
7. Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
I’m not really sure how I feel about Belle.
On one hand, she’s the cutest gal with a love for reading and her cute ol’ dad which is adorable. Growing up I always wanted to be like Belle because I loved how brave she was and that she loved reading as much as me.
She’s made out to be so clever which makes it all that more annoying when she’s doing all the typical Disney wailing that all princesses do. If you’re taken hostage by a Beast don’t fall in love with him and make friends with his candle – GET OUT OF THERE.
6. Tiana (Princess and the Frog)
Tiana is such a star. She’s the perfect mix of sassy and sweet and I love how driven and motivated she is to make her dreams come true. She never seems to be discouraged and knows exactly what she wants which makes her a really great princess. HOWEVER, she spends way too much time flirting with a frog and being a frog herself that I just can’t relate.
Also, Naveen is hilarious, why does she get so annoyed at him.
Pocahontas is fab. She’s such a free spirit and I wish I was as adventurous as her. Again, she knows what she wants and she’s good at sticking up for herself, but she does it in a better way than Merida. I love that she knows a pug as well so I guess that gives her points.
John Smith is such a weirdo though, why do you love him!? He is literally trying to steal your home and probably kill your family. I’m all for misunderstood ‘bad’ guys (Loki, anyone) but John Smith despite having the most boring name EVER thinks he’s so much better than you and your family so girl, you can do so much better.
4. Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Once, my favourite princess, Ariel is number 4 on this list because she’s so ANNOYING. Okay, I know she’s a princess AND a mermaid which is just amazing and her hair and eyes and voice and everything are just goals. BUT seriously, why are you putting your life on hold for a man you don’t even know. Eric is cute and all, but that singing voice should not be sacrificed for anything.
I also hate how whiny Ariel gets as well. We all know you’re 16 and think you’re an adult, so you should probably start acting like one.
Ariel has the best outfits out of all the princesses though hands down and as I said shes’s a fricken mermaid but that she’s so desperate to give up her life and her family for a guy she doesn’t even know means she misses out on number 3.
Mulan is amazing. She’s so brave and stops her whole country from being attacked which is definitely the best thing any Disney princess has done!
She also has some amazing fighting skills that we should all aspire to learn and I love that she puts family first.
In typical Disney fashion, she again falls victim to the wailing ‘why is the world against me’ scene so no thanks to that.
Almost at the top spot is Moana. I’m not sure if she’s in the official princess line up yet and I know she’s technically *daughter of the chief* but she’s too cool to leave out. THIS is a girl that should be your role model. She’s free-spirited, loyal, has a pet pig, is determined and knows that sometimes you have to face your fears just to do what’s right. I think Moana is one of the bravest princesses because that shiny crab is FREAKY and I’d be so gone as soon as I seen him.
I love that she puts Maui in his place too, and reminds him who’s boss because we all know it’s Moana. This movie also has amazing songs and Moana has the prettiest voice. It’s cool that she’s friends with the ocean and things too but Moana only gets second place because she doesn’t bring the cute pig with her on her voyage and she doesn’t really make the ocean do anything cool, just give her that pink shell and stop her from drowning.
1. Rapunzel (Tangled)
The shining lantern (get it?) from all the Disney princesses, Rapunzel is a dream come true! She has a chameleon that is the BEST EVER, MAGIC HAIR and is such a lovely, caring person.
She gave a whole new purpose to frying pans, magical flowers and modes of transport and I just LOVE everything about her. Plus, she also knows Flynn Rider and he’s the coolest guy in the world, so even my jealousy of that wouldn’t ever take number 1 away from her.
The moment when she stands up to Mother Gothel is freaking badass and she even rocks her hair all flicked out and messy – ultimate bed head goals.
Rapunzel has the best voice and personality out of all of the princesses, her songs are so catchy (she can even get thugs singing) and she’s so caring towards everyone no matter what. I love how open-minded she is when she accepts Flynn despite knowing he’s a criminal and that she’s determined to follow her dreams and make herself happy – without hurting people in the process.
Rapunzel is by far the best Disney princess.
Do you agree with this list? Who do you think is the best/worst princesses? Why?
Let me know!
