It’s that time of the month again! Honestly, I can’t believe that March is over – it feels like it just begun! I’ve got a few different things I’ve loved this month so I hope you enjoying reading this as much as I loved writing it!
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Shade 02 Vanilla
Excuse the grubbiness of my bottle – it got into a fight with some matte black eyeshadow in my makeup bag and lost! I’ve had this foundation for a few months now but as it’s relatively low coverage I’ve reached for my Revlon Colourstay to get me through winter. As we’re now apparently into Spring, although I’m pretty sure the sun has only come out 3 of the 31 days in March, I’ve reached for this more. I love the way this looks on my skin! I had to get a shade darker than I’m used to when I purchased this, but you can hardly tell when the sun is shining. I’m running low on this so will definitely be picking up another bottle, in the right shade for the (hopefully) warmer summer months, but this is just such a lovely formula. It goes on very light but is buildable, so I usually put 2 layers on and then concealer and powder as normal. I love how this makes my skin look and feel, it’s definitely moisturising for me and does a really good job of hiding any redness I have across my nose or cheeks. I hate wearing heavy foundations in warmer months because I feel so heavy and like my entire face is on the brink of melting off, but this just sinks right into my skin beautifully and I don’t feel like I have any makeup on which is amazing.
Benefit Creaseless Colour Washes in the Shades Honey Talks, Peachy Party and Go Taupeless
I actually got these for my birthday away back in November, but as I’ve always been an eyeshadow-phobic I was too scared to give them a try. I’m attempting to be more adventurous now with my makeup and so I’ve given these a go and I have to say – I’m in love! I love using all three for a full makeup day, but most days I’ve used the lightest shade (Honey Talks) all over my lids and I’m good to go. These are the ultimate lazy girl’s dream! They’re a liquid formula so I usually just put a little drop right in the middle of my eyelid then blend it all out with a blending brush. For the more adventurous days, I like to use Honey Talks all over my lid, Peachy Party towards the outer corner and then Go Taupeless in my crease and blend it all out. It looks so pretty with some smudged brown kohl liner around the outer corners of my eye and honestly takes about 2 minutes to do! I’ve used these almost every day in March, and I’ve found that Honey Talks works really well as a base under any powder eyeshadow which looks super pretty as well. I love these!
Benefit ‘They’re Real!’ Double the Lip
More Benefit lazy girl makeup! I received this in my Benefit buddies gift set I purchased at the start of the month and immediately fell in love with this lipstick! It comes in a kind of teardrop shape with the lipstick at the bottom of the tear, and lip liner at the top and it’s the best thing ever! I love wearing lipstick but I’m really touch-and-go with lip liner. I could wear it every day for 6 months but as soon as I forget to put it on once, I’ll never reach for it again. This has been such a nice change for me because the liner is a little darker than the main lipstick shade so it makes my lips more defined and stand out a lot more than usual and it makes my lips look bigger (to me, anyway). Also, it takes like 30 seconds to apply and you’re all lined and lipsticked ready to go so it’s just so convenient! I’ve found that it lasts a really long time for me as well, I haven’t really tested it for a full day, but it lasts a few hours at least. It’s pulled me away from my liquid lipsticks this month which has made my lips feel less dried out and much softer so I’ll definitely be purchasing the full-size version of this when it runs out!
Moving on to TV/film and what March 2017 favourites would be complete without Disney’s remake of Beauty and the Beast?!
I love Disney movies anyway, but the cartoon Beauty and the Beast had never been my favourite. Growing up, I loved Belle and the fact she was a bookworm and super smart, but I was always an Ariel girl myself. Saying that as soon as I watched the first trailer for this way back last year I immediately had butterflies and knew I’d be first in line to see it. I went the Friday it came out with my parents, siblings and boyfriend and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. It is definitely better than the original cartoon version and it’s just such a magical piece of art! I cried so many times watching this and have cried so many times since just thinking about it – I can’t even explain the way it made me feel. It reminded me of being a child again and made me think of how much has changed and just made me forget everything bad that’s ever happened in the world. I’ll be recovering from this for a long time, and I’m struggling to find the words to describe this movie. It honestly left me speechless the night I watched it and it just makes me feel so warm and glowy thinking about it even now. There are a few things that are different from the cartoon to this version, but every single change just made so much more sense to me and I’m so glad they decided to rework this. It made a good Disney film absolutely amazing and has definitely secured a place in my top ever Disney movies.
Moving on to fashion, I’ve loved these embroidered shoes I picked up from Primark last week.
I can’t remember how much these beauties were (I think £16) but as soon as I seen them I fell in love. I’m not a fan of heeled shoes, but the heel on these is just perfect for me. As it’s a platform type heel I don’t have to worry about falling all over the place like I usually do in heels and it makes them so comfy to wear. As it’s been mostly rainy and snowy this month, I haven’t had a chance to wear these as much as I would’ve liked to but I can see them becoming my everyday shoes over the coming months once the sun comes back to say hello. These were such a bargain and they’re such high quality as well, so I’m so happy I managed to grab these!
This month I was lucky enough to visit Edinburgh twice which was amazing! Honestly, if I could, Edinburgh would be in my monthly favourites every single month I love it so much! I wrote a post about the first time I went there this month with my boyfriend, which was so magical and lovely. We took our siblings there last weekend though to show them around Dynamic Earth which is so much fun and pick up some dinner. Honestly, all of my happiest memories are in Edinburgh and it’s just the best place in the world!
Aloha Lola Cards
I’ve been loving Claire from Aloha Lola Cards this month! March is the month I went self-hosted with my blog and it was made that much easier by this amazing woman who designed my blog header for me! She is such a professional, talented girl and every minute of working with her was a complete pleasure. I am so happy with the finished product and so grateful that I decided to work with Claire for this exciting stage in my blog – she’s just wonderful! Nothing was too much work or trouble for her and she even managed to include my little guinea pig with me which is just so amazing!
Air Wick Life Scents Electric Wax Burner
I know that wax burners have been out for a while, but as a complete candle lover, I was reluctant to give them a go. I received this wax burner as a gift from my boyfriend and it’s just been such a pleasant surprise!
This set came with 3 wax melts included that smell so pretty! The scent is called ‘Summer Delights’ but I definitely think it works really well with Spring and it just lifts my mood every time I switch it on. I’ve found it really exciting as well looking out for more scents to use and I went on a mini wax melt spree so I’m looking forward to finding some more scents to try and picking out my favourites! I still love my candles but a wax burner definitely has a more concentrated scent which I’m really enjoying at the moment.
The last thing I’ve loved this month is my Distraction Box.
I received this lovely little box about two weeks ago and have been in love with every single product in it! You can check out a more in-depth review of this month’s box here but in summary, the Distraction Box is a monthly subscription box that is described as a ‘monthly box of happy distractions to escape the stresses and strains of your everyday life’. It’s the perfect excuse for some me-time and I’ve loved using each product this month when I’ve felt down or stressed. As a special gift for my readers, if you use ‘clairelouise’ at the checkout when purchasing your Distraction Box you’ll get 10% off of your first box, so it’s definitely the perfect excuse to bag some me time next month! I’ll be ordering more Distraction Boxes, I love the surprise of getting different items in every box and all the lovely themes as well. So excited for my next one to arrive!
I hope you enjoyed reading my favourites for this month! What have you been loving in March?
