Distraction Box: First Thoughts & Gift

Posted in Lifestyle, Reviews

I am a huge advocate of self-care so I recently ordered a Distraction Box from Rachael and Sam as I had followed them on Twitter for a while and it seemed like a perfect way to get some self-care and me-time into my daily routine.

Delivery was super fast which was fantastic and I got 6 full-size items which are AMAZING so I’m super excited to share this with you!

First Thoughts

As soon as I received the box I have to say it smelled so flippin’ good – it was so fruity and sweet and gorgeous (due to a certain product inside) but the scent alone definitely picked up my spirits. The box was really nice and basic which I liked and I love how colourful and pretty their logo is so I was super excited to get opening!

Once I opened the box I loved how it was all so bright inside! Everything was all covered up in this gorgeous green tissue paper which was just such a happy sight. The super bright packaging really caught my eye and totally brightened my mood which was fab.

The first thing I picked out was this little booklet that had their logo and slogan on it but was also beautifully coordinated with the rest of the box. As this is my first box, I’m not sure if green is a recurring theme or if each box comes with a different colour scheme but I totally approve of the co-ordination!

This little leaflet had some information about the items in the box and a really lovely introduction introducing me to the ‘Hibernation to Happiness’ themed box. I love that each item in the box had a page dedicated to it, giving lots of information and some discount codes and tips for using them – what a great addition!

Happy Mug

The next item I pulled out was this beautiful mug. I love how bright it is and adore the little gold accents too, of course, but my favourite part is definitely the little quote: ‘be happy, be bright, be you’. I think this mug is a really good size as well and I’ve loved using it so far this month. I already have a ‘usual’ mug that I use, but I’ve reached for this one on days where I’ve felt a bit rubbish or have needed a little pick me up and this gorgeous mug has definitely helped improve my mood!

Birchall Green Tea & Peach Infusion

The next thing I picked out of the box were these little tea bag packets.

I’ve never tried Birchall teas before, and I have to admit, I’m not a fan of green tea but I love peach flavoured things so I decided to give these a go. I was surprised that I could actually finish my cup, but I still definitely prefer good old milky tea and a chocolate biscuit! These are way nicer than my plain old green tea (which is disgusting) and although these are still not my favourite, it’s definitely a nice drink to relax with at the end of the day.

Beefayre ‘Bee Happy’ Tealights

Remember the gorgeous smell I mentioned when I opened the box? It came from these beauties!

I love candles, so anything that lets me add to my collection is a total win for me! Scent-wise, I don’t usually pick up fruity candles, I prefer more lavender and autumn scents, but these smell amazing! I was really surprised when I realised the gorgeous aroma came from these and it totally changed my view on fruit scented candles. I can’t really describe how amazing these smell, honestly, it just really boosted my mood immediately and I’ve lit these every time I need a little pick me up. I love the little box they come in as well, it’s so cute, and there’s also a little discount code to get 20% off anything ordered from Beefayre and so I will definitely be repurchasing these!

Magnetic Colouring Book & Pencils

One of my absolute favourite things to do is colour in, so I was so happy to see there was a little mini colouring book in this months box.

I love the addition of mini-pencils as well. Usually, I’m really fussy with colouring pencils and I’m not keen on little mini ones, but I was really surprised with how pretty the colours were that came with this. I think there’s a good variety and I love that the book is so small it can be carried around everywhere so this is probably one of my favourite things from the box! Flicking through it, I noticed that all the pictures are so pretty with loads of little patterns and flower designs, which again I LOVE, and so overall I’m really excited to get colouring and complete this book.

BakedIn Gluten Free Brownie

I’m sure we’ve all heard and seen all the amazing recipes and pictures of people making cakes in mugs. Well I did too, and a few months ago I tried to make my own with hot chocolate powder and a few other things and it didn’t turn out well at all. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m glad it’s an actual brownie mix instead of my weird thrown together recipe, and I can’t wait to give it a go. I’m a total chocolate lover and so I’m saving this for a day when I really need it, even though it has been so hard to resist, but I love the addition of this little comfort food in the box as I feel like, for me at least, chocolate is the cure for everything.

Cards & Envelopes

The last thing in my Distraction Box were these two little blank cards.

I really love the addition of these as a way to spread the positivity and love to others as well! I think it’s really great that these are blank inside as you can write your own message specific to whoever you want to give this too and so I love how personal these can be. What a lovely addition!

I was so impressed with the Distraction Box, and I can’t wait to order more because I feel like it’s such an amazing way to have some me-time using these lovely, hand-picked items to relax, unwind and offer a happy distraction from the stresses life can bring.

I love this! I have never heard of Distraction Box. I just realized you could DIY your own as well to keep on reserve and break out if you’re starting to have anxiety about something. That way you always have something on hand!
