A Day & Night in Edinburgh

Posted in Days Out

Last weekend my lovely boyfriend took me away for a last-minute trip to Edinburgh. We haven’t seen each other much recently due to work and family commitments so it was really nice to just spend that time together in my most favourite place ever!

Usually, when we go away we’ll stay in a hotel, but this time we picked an Air bnb. I always hear about Air bnb and see it advertised constantly, yet it’s not something I ever considered booking. However, once we saw a gorgeous flat available for the Friday night – we just had to go! Honestly, it was amazing and made us really desperate to get our own place together. We just really enjoyed having our own space and it was such a pretty little flat. Once we arrived on Friday afternoon and picked up the keys, we got straight ‘home’, into our comfy clothes, ordered takeout and watched movies all night – such bliss!

We had to hand the keys back by 11 am on Saturday, so we had to decide what to do with the rest of our day. We drove around for a while until we found the Royal Botanical Gardens and decided to have a little wander around. It was so pretty! I really enjoyed being there, although it was more of my boyfriends kind of thing because he owns his own landscaping business so he found it all a lot more interesting and inspiring than I did! I just liked looking at the pretty flowers and seeing the squirrels and birds. Although, they had a special ‘Chinese Hillside’ area which was full of bamboo and rock waterfalls etc which was gorgeous! It was a really peaceful morning/early afternoon spent together.

After we finished up there and decided we still didn’t want to go home just yet, so headed over to Dynamic Earth which is just beside Holyrood. We grabbed some lunch there and paid for our tickets and spent sooooo long going around – it was amazing! In Glasgow, we have a Science Centre which is super fun, but Dynamic Earth is a million times better! It has all these facts about Earth and how it came to exist and all the animals and natural events on our planet and it was so interesting! We loved going around there, pretending we were in the rainforest and inside a volcano and having the best time.

After we finished up there, in true fashion, we ended the day with a McDonald’s and headed back home. It really was such a perfect day and night in Edinburgh and I can’t wait to head back to the prettiest place ever!

Have you ever been to Edinburgh? Where’s your favourite place to go for a day trip or night away?

I love your pictures! Especially the river 😍 it looks so mystical. I’ve never been to Edinburgh but my favourite place to go for a day trip is the beach! As there is cafe there for pancake chocolate wraps too. Great post! 💗

A beach house would be amazing! Abit scary when there’s a storm, but amazing 😂

How cute are you two? It honestly looked like such a great break away. The photos are stunning. They purple flowers were so picturesque!

The scenery in Edinburgh is just wonderful. I was there 2 weeks ago for afternoon tea with a couple of bloggers & I wish I had been able to stay a bit longer.

    Great post.
